Aims

The aim of the Hopebright Primary Curriculum is to develop confident, emotionally aware, & intellectually curious learners who are equipped with both essential foundational skills & higher-order thinking abilities needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Our curriculum is designed to support the development of the whole child—academically, socially, & emotionally—through engaging, thematic learning that connects values, skills, and knowledge in meaningful ways.

Intentions

1. Value-Based Learning: Each term is grounded in clearly defined values such as self-regulation, kindness, & responsibility. These values underpin all areas of learning & are consistently embedded across subjects & experiences to support emotional understanding, social awareness, & positive character development.
2. Progressive Skill Development: Learning is carefully sequenced to build skills over time:
a . Autumn: Foundational skills such as listening, empathy, & respect
b. Spring: Social & emotional development including communication, teamwork, & resilience.
c. Summer : Character growth & independence, focusing on organisation, initiative, & leadership
3. Cross-Curricular Learning: Key themes such as perception & perspective, growth & new beginnings, & movement & change are explored across subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, PSHE, & project-based learning. This ensures knowledge & skills are reinforced & applied across different contexts.
4. Inclusive & Adaptive Practice: The curriculum is designed to be accessible to all learners, with targeted SEN strategies such as visual supports, structured routines, & sensory integration embedded throughout to ensure consistent support & engagement.
5. Preparing For Transition: The curriculum supports learners in preparing for their next stage of education by promoting independence, reflection, & goal setting, ensuring a smooth & purposeful transition between year groups & key stages.
